Taryn Southern is no stranger to emerging technology. In 2007, Taryn uploaded her first video to YouTube….ten year later, she had earned more than one billion views across her digital content.  Since that time, Taryn’s work has  focused on the intersection of technology and human potential. In 2018, Taryn collaborated with AI to compose the world’s first AI solo pop album, which hit the Top 100 on the US radio charts. In 2019, she co-directed and produced an award-winning documentary on the future of the brain (2019 Tribeca Film Festival), produced an award-winning VR series for Google, and began experimenting with a variety of generative AI tools, becoming one of the earliest content creators to create a digital clone of herself. Since 2021, Taryn has served as Chief Storytelling Officer at Blackrock Neurotech and speaks around the globe on the current realities and future possibilities of AI. A three-time Streamy Awards nominee, her work has been featured in Vanity Fair, Billboard, Fast Company, Wired, Forbes, Psychology Today, Harvard Business Review and more. As an early creator, Taryn produced digital content and/or advised AirBNB, Conde Naste, Marriott, MovieTickets.com, and Ford, was a guest columnist for Business Insider and TechCrunch, and served as a host for Discovery Channel’s #1 late night show, “Shark After Dark.”

Taryn is a frequent keynote speaker on the topic of Creativity and AI, and has spoken at companies such as Deloitte, Google, Gartner, YouTube, Salesforce and Google and conferences including SXSW, The World AI Summit, VidCon, Google’s AI Summit, NY Times Future of Work, Web Summit, The Next Web, and Near Future Festival.

From biotech to neurotech, Taryn’s work has been featured in publications like Fast Company, Wired, Vanity Fair, and Forbes and she has been a guest contributor for Business Insider and TechCrunch.

Taryn is also a three-time Streamy Award nominee, an AT&T Film Award Winner, and sits on the board of the National Academy of Medicine’s Longevity Challenge, which aims to award breakthroughs in longevity science. As an angel investor, she has invested in Oura, Cue Health, Vessel, Cooler Heads, Vessel, Aspiration, and others.

WORK

I AM AI is Taryn’s pop album composed and produced with AI. The album’s debut song “Break Free” hit the Top 100 radio charts and streamed more than 10 million times on radio and the internet.

Taryn’s documentary, I AM HUMAN, followed three of the world’s first patients with implantable brain-computer interfaces, premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. Available on VOD platforms AppleTV and Amazon.

Taryn created and produced an award-winning musical VR series for Google using Tiltbrush and Blocks. The series won the AT&T Film Award and has since been featured in museums and digital art fairs around the world.
