Taryn Southern is a musical comedian, actress and video blogger. The creator and star of TarynTV (over 450,000 subscribers), Taryn is one of the early pioneers of digital media, has sold two television shows based on digital concepts – Project MyWorld to DirecTV in 2006 and subsequently, Private High Musical to MTV in 2009. Her online videos have received more than 500 million views and earned her both a Spike TV Guy’s Choice Award and a IAWTV and Streamy Best Actress nomination.
As a host, Taryn has been a correspondent for FOX’s “The X-Factor,” G4’s “Attack of the Show,” TVGuide’s “Hollywood 411,” VH1’s “Best Week Ever,” and she has hosted more than 9 pilots for MTV, WeTV, F/X, and The CW. Taryn has hosted the official online pre-shows for “The X-Factor,” the American Music Awards and Golden Globes, as well as hosted dozens of live film premieres such as Twilight, Avatar, and Sex and the City. Taryn most recently served as a correspondent “Naked After Dark,” a late night talk show on Discovery Channel, produced and hosted a 13 episdoe late talk show for Maker Studios “Party Fun Times,” created and produced a 6-part series for The Today Show “Self Help For Your Digital Soul,” and reprised her lead role in Glamour Magazine’s hit online series “The Single Life.”
As an actress, she has guest starred on “Rules of Engagement,” “New Girl,” “Guys with Kids,” “Last Man Standing,” “The League,” “Legit,” and starred in numerous online series including MTV’s “Status Updates” and the WB’s “Sorority Forever.”
Additionally, Taryn’s first musical comedy album made the Top 10 List on iTunes the month of its release and her single “Crush” made Top 100 Radio. She currently is working on a book (Self Help For The Digital Soul) and producing a documentary on the future of human intelligence.
In 2010, Taryn co-wrote and produced a viral breast cancer campaign that starred Minka Kelly, Emily Deschanel, Alyson Hannigan, Jaime King, and Kat McPhee.
In 2011, Taryn signed the first ever first-look deal as an online content producer with Break Media.
